Jacksonville Shooter Killed 2, Injured 9 Over Lost Madden Match

David Katz has been identified as the culprit.

On Sunday, a gunman opened fire on a Madden tournament at GLHF Bar in Jacksonville, Florida. The attack left two dead and 9 injured. The gunman, now identified as David Katz, then turned the gun on himself.

The reason for his rampage? He lost a match in the tournament. Yes, really.

According to the Sheiff’s  office, Katz used a handgun in the shooting. The tournament was being livestreamed at the time, documenting the audio of the shooting. Almost blessedly, the stream cuts back to game footage just before the shooting starts; that said, in the original unedited footage, you can see the laser sight on one of the contenders just before the cut.

Katz, also going by the name “Bread” was a previous tournament winner. He was from Baltimore, so sadly we can’t chalk this one up to Florida Man, either.

Madden Madden

I am trying very hard not to make fun of his appearance right now.

August has not been a good month for angry manchildren rages. The shooting over a video game follows hot on the heels of Thursday’s fatal collision over a Steam trade ban. I’m beginning to get tired of this shit.
