Warner Bros. seems set on Jared Leto’s Joker. Because that rendition is getting it’s own movie.
Jared Leto’s movie is also separate from the previously mentioned Todd Phillips Joker film. That one is actually set under its own label, allowing for different interpretations and actors of the characters. And they’ve already cast their Joker: Joaquin Phoenix.
Jared Let’s film is focused on his interpretation, which he expressed interest in expanding upon in another film. His bits were mostly cut out of Suicide Squad, which is getting a sequel, with production set to start next year. There’s no word on which of these films will be released (or even finished) first.
