Jon Favreau teaming up again with Vince Vaughn, for a thriller this time

Sorry, loyal readers: they’re not doing Couples Retreat 2.

According to Deadline, Jon Favreau has joined the cast of Universal’s Term Life, which stars Vince Vaughn “as a thief who plans and sells heists to the highest bidder. He takes his estranged daugher (Hailee Steinfeld) on the lam when a job goes bad. Hunted by mob bosses, contract killers, and dirty cops, he takes out a life insurance policy on himself to leave something for his kid. One problem: it doesn’t take effect for 21 days.” I’d guess that Favreau is playing one of the men chasing Vaughn.

Poor Hailee Steinfeld. This just shows that you can be one of the youngest Oscar nominees in history, and still end up playing Vince Vaughn’s daughter in a movie directed by Ralphie from A Christmas Story – who, holy shit, directed Couples Retreat? Maybe this is just a dark sequel. Maybe I should just give up on this joke.

Seriously though, this sounds interesting. I like Vaughn when he tries, and he’s actually pretty good in dramatic roles. God help me, I thought he was pretty good in Domestic Disurbance.
