Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger series ordered for television

Cloak and Dagger TV series

The Freeform television network has ordered a series based on the Marvel Comics team of Cloak and Dagger. Before we dive into who Cloak and Dagger are, it best we talk about what Freeform Television is, as that’s probably the bigger question.

While the Network name may be new, its history goes all the way back to 1977. Freeform Television was formerly known most recently as ABC Family. In this regard the Marvel acquisition makes a lot of sense since ABC is part of the Disney family.

Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb spoke on the new series saying,

“We are thrilled to be able to explore another corner of the Marvel Universe with Cloak and Dagger,” he continued. “We want to thank Tandy and Tyrone’s fans everywhere who have been waiting for this exciting news.”

The announcement came during the Freeform Television upfront event. While there is no schedule of how soon we could be seeing the series, we did get a synopsis of what we can expect from the show:

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” will follow Tandy Bowen and Tyronne Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly acquired super powers while falling in love.

Tandy has the ability to emit light daggers while Tyrone can engulf others in darkness, hence their monikers. The duo will learn that they are better together than apart–but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
