May 2020’s PS Plus Selections Fail To Impress

Well, not too long go, the PS Plus freebies for may were revealed. And they went over like a lead balloon. With a combination of Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19, I, uh, hope you really like sims. Because you ain’t getting jack else.

And that seems to at least be part of the problem. The other being that, while they’re both niche games, they’re of a niche that most probably aren’t going to even try if they know it doesn’t interest them to begin with. You might give a small indie title a try if the material is broad appeal, but if you know city planning or farming don’t interest you at all…

The backlash has been heavy, to say the least. On both PlayStation Access’s video and PlayStation Europe’s video, the like to dislike ratio is not enviable; as of this writing, 5k to 14k for the former, and 1.5k to 9.9k for the latter.

Notably, PlayStation’s US channel has yet to upload a video for May’s picks. This is unusual, as they’re typically all done around the same time. It’s almost like they knew it wouldn’t go over well…

Doesn’t help that the “leak” (or, fake, as sensible people would call it) said they would be Dying Light and Dark Souls Remastered.
