The Mummy looked like a neat little horror reboot when it was first announced. Now, well, things look quite a bit more complicated as the film looks to be the first in a slew of connected universe films starring classic cinema monster.

The more and more we see of the film, the less importance the titular Mummy has. She seems to be only a means to an end in getting the Monster Avengers together onscreen to fight.

Also, Tom Cruise is probably a monster too. I’m guessing sexy Frankenstein or something. I dont’ know or particularly care at this point. The trailer says he’s been cursed or something. Meh.

On June 9, it takes a monster to defeat a monster.
