Netflix’s Narcos Location Scout Shot To Death in Mexico on the Job

Died on the job.

Carlos Muñoz Portal, 37, a location scout for the hit Netflix show Narcos, was found shot to death in Mexico. He was found riddled with bullets in his car in Temascalapa, a dangerous region south of Mexico City. Due to the sparse population in the area, Police are having a tough time gathering information about the shooting.

He was in the area taking pictures of possible filming locations when he was killed. The fourth season of Narcos shifts focus from Columbia to the Juarez Cartel in Mexico. Netflix gave a statement on his passing:

We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family.

The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate.

Portal, a Pueblo, California native, had a number of location scouting credits to his name apart from Narcos, including Man on Fire, Apocalypto, the Fast and the Furious franchise and, most recently, Spectre.
