Nintendo Announces Their Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Nintendo Switch

And here the rumormongers die.

Rumors were circulating of a new model of Nintendo Switch with some performance boosts, colloquially titled the Switch Pro, floating around for months. Personally, I doubted it, and the few people I talked with knew that was my stance.

So imagine my surprise when, sleepless, I popped into YouTube and saw the following video minutes after it was uploaded.

The Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) has the following features:

  • A new, OLED screen that’s 0.8 inches larger than the base model’s.
  • A new wide and adjustable stand built-in
  • Enhanced audio
  • A wired LAN port built-in to the dock (probably the best feature IMHO)
  • 64 GB of internal storage (doubled from the base model’s 32 GB) with micro SD expansion

…and that’s it. No enhanced abilities, no physical mutations, no nothing! Needless to say, a lot of people on social media are pretty pissy right now, and those “industry insiders” are either really embarrassed, or quite happy that they managed to pull one over on everybody. Be sure to drink your Ovaltine, kids.

The Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) goes on sale October 8th, for a retail price of $349.99.
