Pokemon is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, but this news pertaining to The Pokemon Company is pretty sad. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Eric Medalle, creative director of The Pokemon Company. He passed away over the weekend after a roadside accident caused from a windstorm in Washington State. His toddler was in the rear of the vehicle, but was only treated for minor injuries.
Medalle has been working with The Pokemon Company since 2003 working directly on games in the core series. With worked included time with Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver on the Nintendo DS, as well the more recent Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for 3DS.
There is currently a donation page up for those that want to help support the family during this difficult time. The money will be put aside to help with the future schooling for his two daughters. You can donate via their YouCaring.com page.
Eric is survived by his wife and two daughters.
