Rampage Gets Lame AR “Experience”

A movie based on a video game, gets an app that isn’t a game.

Warner Bros. has launched a new augmented reality (AR) app (Google Play and iTunes) created by Trigger, The Mixed Reality Agency, that will let people unleash genetically super-sized creatures in the biggest environments possible and will bring the destruction of the upcoming movie Rampage into their world.

Fans can launch and scale an AR version of the creatures in any environment-staging the perfect scene with George the gorilla, Ralph the wolf, and Lizzie the alligator using the app’s AR scene creator- and share it across social from within the app.

This is a damn shame. Can you imagine how cool it would have been to take the old Rampage game from the 8-bit days and simply re-skin the game with the new movie monsters? It would have been a win all around. The studio gets their free ad and gamers get, you know, an actual game.
