SDCC 2017: Stargate Origins and a Dedicated Streaming Channel

I like the yellow ones.

2017 is something of an anniversary year for Stargate, specifically Stargate SG-1, as it’s the show’s 20th anniversary. So what better way for MGM to kick things off by announcing a new Stargate series: Stargate Origins. The 10 part series will also debut on a dedicated streaming channel named Stargate Command. Kevin Conroy, President of MGM’s digital and new platforms, stated:

We’ve been eager to revisit the Stargate franchise, and create an all-new story that honors the founding mythos and gives loyal fans more mystery and adventure. We view Stargate: Origins as a thank you to fans who have been keeping the spirit of the franchise alive for nearly 25 years.

With the increasing popularity of digitally native content that can be streamed to any device, MGM is committed to the production of premium linear mid-form content and are proud to launch with Stargate: Origins.

The series focuses on Catherine Langford, the daughter of the man who found the Stargate, whom you might remember as taking up her father’s legacy in the original movie. The Stargate Origins will debut this fall.
