Sony To Kill PlayStation Vue This Month

Funny enough, PlayStation Vue was my first venture into the world of cord-cutting. I had ditched cable during a move and relied on my PS3 for all my streaming needs, so jumping into PlayStation Vue made some sense.

Look, it’s hard going cold turkey with something like cable, and while I didn’t stick with Vue for longer than a year, it was a painless experience that worked. I simply couldn’t justify the monthly cost for how little I watched. People change and traditional TV was no longer for me.

While Sony was an early part of the cable alternative market, it simply can no longer compete saying that “the highly competitive Pay TV industry, with expensive content and network deals, has been slower to change than we expected.”

But they aren’t just bowing out and leaving their user base to fend for themselves. Sony went out of their way to name YouTube TV and Vue’s successor with the service launching on the PS4 in the coming weeks.

If you are a Vue user then the switch to YouTube TV should be pretty easy. The costs between the services are about equal so if you want to keep up with your cord-cutting it should be painless, outside of learning the YouTube TV layout. It’s a lateral move at best for those still tied to more traditional TV.
