Star Trek: Discovery was supposed to Launch in January and be the backbone of the CBS streaming platform. After Bryan Fuller stepped away from the show people began to worry about this new incarnation of Trek.
CBS told us things moving along and even managed to make some really nice casting announcement. They did say the show would be pushed back until May for its premiere, but these things happen.
Star Trek: Discovery was supposed to kick off filming this week up in Vancouver, but now the series is up in the air as CBS has confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that they are delaying the show once again.
This shouldn’t impact the start of production but the team behind the project simply want to be “flexible” and not work towards a hard deadline, thus possibly compromising the shows quality. CBS said “It’s more important to do this right than to do it fast.”
Along with this news we also learned that actor James Frain (The Tudors) will take on the classic role of Sarek, Spock’s father in the series. This will tie the series into the original series and leaves the door open for other cameos.
