Star Wars: Obi-Wan Film Possibly in the Works

Itsu ovaa, Anakin! I have the high guroundo!

Aside from the current trilogy, Disney’s been champing at the bit to get side films set in the Star Wars universe going. Aside from the mostly stellar Rogue One, however, progress has been slow. We know of the announced Han Solo film, and there were rumors of films based on Yoda and Boba Fett. But now, we may have an Obi-Wan film in the works.

Director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader) is currently in talks with Disney to direct. The film is in the earliest stages right now, though; no script or anything hard to go on. And while Ewan McGregor would love to play the character again (and really, he’s a shoe-in if they go through with this) no actors have been announced for the role.

That said, a Star Wars Movie centered on Old Ben Makes a fair bit of sense. Considering the character’s canon achievements, you could definitely make one hell of a film or two. Especially if they keep drawing in Oscar-winning directors.
