Tilting Point Acquires ‘Star Trek Timelines’ From Disruptor Beam

The trek themed gacha-game will continue to get your money

Tilting Point has acquired the popular character collection role-playing game (CCRPG) Star Trek Timelines from Disruptor Beam. The new studio will refocus their development efforts on Disruptor Engine, a platform to support the live operations of free-to-play games.

Alongside the acquisition of the game, Tilting Point has formed a new studio, Wicked Realm Games, to support the title in Boston and has taken on 19 Disruptor Beam team members, including former CTO David Cham who will head the new studio. Star Trek Timelines, which has already succeeded in the Tilting Point portfolio, will be fully owned and operated internally.

“We have long felt a deep affinity for Star Trek Timelines because of its best-in-class character collection gameplay, its impressive fidelity to a deeply-loved entertainment IP, and for its ability to be enjoyed by millions of players all over the world-as evidenced by its 8 million downloads and having earned $100 million to date,” said Samir El-Agili, president of Tilting Point. “We have extended the license with the integration of the Star Trek: Picard series, and we’re committed to long term live operations support for Star Trek Timelines, using our proprietary tools and expertise to grow the game. We are also excited to provide a new home for the fantastic team members who have been key to the title’s success.”

Star Trek Timelines first became part of Tilting Point’s portfolio with a UA funding partnership in December 2017.  Tilting Point’s involvement then grew in October 2018 to include handling of the game’s marketing, sales and distribution. Star Trek Timelines has been downloaded over 8 million times since its debut, reaching the Top 50 Grossing games list and earning over $100 million to date.

Star Trek Timelines is considered the most expansive Star Trek game on mobile, featuring content across the first ten films and all seven television series, including Star Trek: Picard. Originally developed by the former Disruptor Beam and licensed by CBS Consumer Products, Star Trek Timelines brings together over 800 characters and allows players to assemble a crew from all eras of the series. As they participate in missions, players have the opportunity to command 50 iconic starships and engage in 3D ship-to-ship battles.
