Starting Monday, June 26, Twitch will air a 38 episode marathon of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The stream will be on Shout! Factory’s Twitch channel, and will run from 11 am PT June 26, ending July 3.
You may or may not have noticed, but Mystery Science Theater 3000 is well liked in this neck of the woods. The cult favorite series ran from 1989-1997 for a total of 197 episodes and an oft forgotten movie. Recently, the show has experienced a resurgence since the Netflix revived series entered circulation.
Shout! Factory plans on airing more of their properties on the platform in the future. It’s also something of a bid for the Amazon-owned Twitch. They’re trying to branch out beyond live gameplay accompanied by profuse cursing. So far, they’ve similarly aired such shows as Julia Child’s The French Chef, and The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross, among others.
There’s no word on which episodes will air. That said, they’ll probably be mostly fan favorites. As long as Sandy Frank doesn’t get crusty about it.
