Vince Vaughn in talks for True Detective role

Another day, another True Detective casting rumor. At this rate, next week I’ll be reporting that Jaden Smith and Bob Balaban are playing the two leads.

TV Line is reporting that Vince Vaughn is in preliminary talks to play the third lead in True Detective‘s second season (the other two roles are rumored to belong to Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch).

There’s not much more to report because all of this is in the beginning stages. But I have to say, all snark aside, Vaughn wouldn’t be a terrible choice. His work in Clay Pigeons, The Cell, Psycho, and even Domestic Disturbance has proven that he can handle dramatic roles, and if Nic Pizzolatto says he’s good enough I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. I mean, five years ago, would anyone have cast Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle?
