The Walking Dead gets official spin-off

Well, technically it’s more of a “companion series,” as none of the characters from The Walking Dead will appear. So basically, AMC is trying to wring every last possible cent out of this franchise, because there’s nothing that can be done that can’t be done to death.

According to TV Guide, AMC has put Dave Erickson in charge of the as-yet-untitled spin-off. Erickson was a producer on the network’s failed Low Winter Sun, the show you had to sit through twenty minutes of to see a preview of the following week’s Breaking Bad. He’s also written several episodes of Sons of Anarchy and Canterbury’s Law, whatever the hell that is.

The good news is, Erickson will be working alongside TWD producers Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd, so look for the spin-off to be wildly uneven at best.
