Who wants to see a remake of Private Benjamin? Oh right, nobody

Since GAMbIT launched a few months ago, I’ve learned a harsh truth about writing on the Internet: it is literally impossible to avoid talking about remakes. To that end, TheWrap has announced that Rebel Wilson will star in a remake of Private Benjamin, the 1980 fish-out-of-water comedy that earned Goldie Hawn a Best Actress nomination.

Via TheWrap:

“Private Benjamin” will follow a redneck (Wilson) and a rich city girl who get more than they bargained for when they enlist in the Marines to escape their present situations.

Let’s start taking bets on who will play the “rich city girl.” General opinion would say Anna Kendrick, but she’s a well-respected Oscar nominee who wouldn’t touch this shit with a ten foot pole. My money is on the dark horse, 2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs.

No word on how filming Private Benjamin will affect filming of Wilson’s half-hour fat joke Super Fun Night.
