It was reported a while ago that Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) would direct Ghostbusters 3, with an all-female cast. He also said it would be “scarier” than the first two films, which is bullshit because combining comedy and horror is all but impossible unless you’re Cabin in the Woods. Anyway, we know at the very least that it will be funny, based on the cast (note: all of these women are in “final negotiations,” which is studio-speak for “confirmed”).

The cast is:

Melissa McCarthy (no surprise there)

Kristen Wiig (ditto)

Kate McKinnon (SNL)

Leslie Jones (SNL)

McCarthy and Wiig are surprising only if you live under a rock where no one is aware of pop culture, but McKinnon and Jones are both awesome additions. McKinnon is arguably the best female cast member that SNL has ever had, and Jones is no slouch either. I’m officially excited for this. I got the GAMbIT stamp of excitement and everything.
