Check out the weird-ass trailer for Frank

I love Michael Fassbender for doing this. I imagine him calling his agent from the set of 12 Years a Slave and saying, “Look, I just shot a scene where I had to rape Lupita Nyong’o, you gotta get me something a little lighter…an avant-garde comedy where I act from inside a papier-mache head? I’m in.”

Fassbender seems an inspired choice for this role. Frank also stars Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Scoot McNairy (Argo), and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who seems to be fulfilling the promise she made to the world to get steadily worse in every movie since Secretary. Frank is written by Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan (The Men Who Stare at Goats) and directed by Lenny Abrahamson (What Richard Did). It opens in the UK on May 9, and in the States shortly thereafter. Are you guys excited?

Oh wait, I just remembered, Maggie Gyllenhaal was pretty good in Crazy Heart.
