Welp, time to go listen to Gorillaz.
Per Variety, The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls show has cast its mains. Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blossom, Dove Cameron (Descendants) as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault (Broadway production of Jagged Little Pill) as Buttercup.
In this series, the girls are all “disillusioned twenty-somethings“… Excuse me for one moment:
They’re “disillusioned twenty-somethings” who realize they wasted their childhoods fighting crime. Blossom’s now a recluse, Bubbles is seeking the fame she once had, and Buttercup is trying to be as anonymous as possible (I’m guessing the Guy Fawkes mask is optional).
If this makes it to series, this will be Yana Perrault’s first time on the small screen. Aside from her music career, she was set to join the cast of Hamilton before COVID shut everything down.
Personally, the casting doesn’t change my feelings about this.
