Because Sony’s development department apparently shares office space with BuzzFeed, they’re hoping to cash in on #90skid nostalgia by making a Goosebumps movie, to be directed by Rob Letterman (Gulliver’s Travels). Jack Black has previously been announced as the star, and he and his eyebrows will be joined by Ken Marino, according to Deadline.
Because this is the Internet, I’m sure you recognize Marino from things like Children’s Hospital, Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, and Party Down.
With Marino, Black, and Letterman being involved, I can’t imagine that Sony is going any other route than “comedy horror.” Which historically has worked out very well – I mean, just look at all the Haunted Mansion sequels we’ve seen in the last few years.
