Middle-earth Limited Collectors Edition Blu-ray Will Run You $800

Fans have been waiting for a box set of all 6 Peter Jackson films since he announced the Hobbit story would be broken up into a trilogy (even if it probably shouldn’t have).  Amazon has announced that a Middle-earth Limited Collectors Edition Blu-ray Box set is in fact on the way and will hit on October 4th of this year. The set is beyond gorgeous and lavish enough to impresses any Lord or Lady. But at $800 is better damn well be amazing!

The set skips the traditional box-set stuff and instead goes for:

  • Faux leather “books” containing extended edition Blu-Ray’s for each film
  • 30 discs in total
  • “Hobbit-style” wooden shelf to hold books
  • Recreation of the “Red Book of Westmarch” with 100 page art book filled with various sketches and concept art

Middle-earth Limited Collectors Edition

It’s quite the pretty set, but the $800 price tag does seem like a bit much, even with all you are getting. We only have the single image above showing of the box-set, but fans of physical media are probably going to want this.

If you are looking for a more modest set for the series, you’ll be able to snag all six films for $125 via Amazon, albeit without the fancy presentation.
