Platinum Dunes moving forward with The Birds remake for some reason

If the name Platinum Dunes sounds familiar to you, it’s because they’re the bad idea factory behind the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. They’re also producing a goddamn Ouija board movie.

Evidently they’re still chugging along with their remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, because redoing Hitchcock has worked out so well in the past. After losing director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Green Lantern) and star Naomi Watts (presumably after she realized “Hey, I’m an Oscar-nominated actress, there’s no way I’m doing this”), the film is now in the hands of Dutch director Diederik Van Rooijen, or as you probably know him, “Who?”

According to Ain’t it Cool, Van Rooijen had a hit TV show that didn’t port well to America, but his resume is not really important. What is important is that this is a terrible idea. We’ll keep you up to date on any developments with The Birds, because you know our motto here at GAMbIT: we’re stupid and we hate ourselves.

What model or CW actress do you guys think will end up trying to fill Tippi Hedren’s shoes?
