Resident Evil: Vendetta is coming to US theaters for one night only

Resident Evil: Vendetta looks pretty good. Now, I know that doesn’t amount too much as the live-action films haven’t been all that great (I’m being generous), but this CG film does at least stick somewhat to the video game series.

And it seems fans are excited enough that Fathom, Park Circus and Sony Pictures are going to show the film this summer for one night only. Tickets will be going on sale at the end of the much via the official Fathom website.

“We are thrilled to bring Resident Evil: Vendetta to the big screen for its U.S. debut,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “This sequel is even scarier and more thrill-inducing than the previous titles, with mind blowing CG animation that should be seen on 40-foot screens with the highest quality sound and visuals to further enhance the fan experience of this beloved franchise.”

At the very least it can’t be as “interesting” as the live-action films have been. Still, with current generation video games pushing the graphics boundary, these CG films based on video games are starting to look like extended cutscenes more than anything. Fingers crossed the writing and story can make this one worth the time.
