Walmart Pulls Signage For Violent Video Games In Wake Of Recent Shooting

Walmart

As we all know, Call of Duty guy told him to do it.

Last weekend, a terrible shooting occurred at an El Paso Walmart. And it seems everyone’s decided that it’s violent video games’ fault, despite the fact that I’m pretty sure they weren’t really much of a factor in the shooting. As such, Walmart has sent out a memo telling their electronics department employees to remove any signage for violent games, as well as any videos on display featuring violence, including hunting videos.

Per Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove, the memo is legit. Furthermore, Mr. Hargrove released the following statement:

We’ve taken this action out of respect for the incidents of the past week, and it does not reflect a long-term change in our video game assortment. We are focused on assisting our associates and their families, as well as supporting the community, as we continue a thoughtful and thorough review of our policies.

Mr. Hargrove also confirmed that Walmart has not changed their gun sales policies.
