Henry Cavill out as Superman

Henry Cavill is done with whatever DC is doing with their film universe.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Warner Bros. was working to get Cavill to have a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! film but that contract talks fell apart before something could be arranged.

Word has it that Warner Bros. has no intention of putting together another solo Superman film for a number of years, relegating Cavill to cameo and support roles in possible DC films until then.

Currently on the table is a Supergirl movie which would serve as an origin story for that character because DC and Warner Bros. totally know what they are doing. Fun fact: they have no idea what they are doing.

This latest movie take on Superman was pretty terrible, making Superman more villain with little regard for human life than anything. It’s unfortunate because Cavill had the perfect look and feel for a movie Superman.

The departure follows of Be Affleck stepping away from the cowl. Warner Bros. sources say that contract talks fell apart because of scheduling issues as Cavill’s star is on the rise.

Another source close to Warner Bros. say that they are aware that the current DC film universe isn’t working and are looking for some sort of reset on the universe. “There’s a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work,” a studio insider told the Hollywood Reporter.

With so many films on the DC release schedule it does seem weird that DC is already eying a reboot of the universe. Best bet is we get a soft reboot and simply replace the actors for upcoming projects.

Henry Cavill is currently set to lead The Witcher limited series for Netflix as the famed literary and video game legend Geralt of Rivia .
