Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming POKÉMON Detective Pikachu staring  Ryan Reynolds as a talking electric mouse. Look, it’s about as weird as it sounds but the films looks weirdly charming.

There’s lots of Pokemon to go around in the trailer. Sine the film is live-action everything looks a little off, but somehow still feels right. A live-action Pokemon film is a weird concept to run with and, thankfully, Detective Pikachu is also a weird concept.

The mix of two weird ideas means the film doesn’t take itself seriously and makes Detective Pikachu one of the most interesting films coming in 2019. I still think Danny Devito should be Pikachu, but we can’t always get everything we want.
